Update of past couple weeks!

Sydney had her birthday party on the 28th.  She was a HAM!  (As you can see from the picture above!) She loved it- and really got into ripping her presents apart.  I made her cake this year with the help of my brothers g/f Jen.  Here's a couple pictures of the day:
Austin wrapped EVERY present for his sissy.
The cake.  I couldn't quite match the green when I ran out- so I'm STILL bummed about that!  But I LOVE the cake!!
The birthday girl in her new chair!

Austin's last day of school was the 26th, so he's out for the summer.  He enjoyed the time he got to spend there, and cannot wait to go back in the fall.  He will be moving up from 3's & 4's to a Pre-K class this next year.  I had the option to put him in Kindergarten but I just do not think he is ready for that yet.  So we will hold him back 1 year, and he will start Kindergarten when he is 6.

Austin also went fishing with his Unc (my brother Nic) and caught fish!!  He didn't quit talking about his trip all night long- he was SO thrilled!!

Dad, Nancy, Jeremy and Jenn made the trip to East Wenatchee the day after Sydney's birthday party (On Sydney's birthday) and we met at Abby's Pizza for a few hours.  The kids LOVED getting to see them, and I did too.  Austin has been asking constantly to go to Gramps and Grammies house, and I feel so bad saying that we can't.  Hopefully my back will heal up quick like and I can be able to drive there to stay! We miss them a ton.

Anyhow, things are going pretty well here.  Bryant is getting along good, and we are counting down the days until his mid-tour.  More on that later.  (See I'm setting myself up so I have another blog coming....)
Oh, and in case you're wondering, 57 days until we get to see Bry!!!! *Happy Dance*

Just a hello from Washington

Hope this finds you all well!  We are all starting to finally feel better here.  Sydney is finished with her antibiotics, but I am wondering if I am going to have to take her back in before her 3 week re-check.  She is acting much, much better, but is still poking and rubbing at her ears, so I am not convinced that her infection is gone.

I am moving a lot better.  Still have been in pain- but I am able to be up out of bed most of the day.  I am hurting pretty good by the time evening rolls around, but I am sure that will go away soon.  And I CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT!

Sydney's birthday is SOON.  And I'm SAD!  I, honestly, am in denial.  Want to know how I know this?  Her birthday party is on the 28th of this month.  I have told not even a handful of people this.  I haven't ordered any decoration for her party, nor have I sent out any invites.  I just now, just today, went and got her birthday gifts.  Maybe if I don't give her gifts, and don't have a party, she won't turn two.  Has that worked for anyone??

Anyone?

Tap Tap.  This thing on?

So onto other news.  Fun news!!  I signed up and joined the Scentsy team!!!

I am an Independent Scentsy Consultant, and I am SO excited.  I wish, wish, that when I joined Mary Kay, that I would have known about Scentsy.  A company that is so much more my style, laid back, easy going, simple to navigate, great prices, and best of all? It sells its self!  It cannot get much better than that.  I have been a consultant for one full day, and already have TWO orders.... Amazing in my book!  Want something?  I'd be happy to help you!  Don't know what Scentsy is?  Let me know and we can chat about it!!  https://kamihines.scentsy.us

I'm slowly purchasing things for our next house.  Bryant and I have lived in 5 different places since we have been married, and have not decorated a single one of them.  Sure a couple have had three or four family pictures hung up, but we have not truly decorated.  I told him come hell or high waters, we ARE decorating our next home.  I am very excited to get to Germany and finally put everything up, and see it all come together!

I promise to get some pictures this week and weekend of the kids so I can post some new ones!

Stay tuned!

6 months down, sick kids, and almost a birthday

So, I just realized this past week that we are 6 months down in this remote tour!  I cannot believe that Bryant has been gone for that long.  In some ways, it feels like he just left- but in others, it seems like we haven't been a family in YEARS.  We only have 6 months left- and we will be done with this dreadful year and move on.  We can't wait for the next adventure, and can't wait to settle into a new home.  Together. Happy. A family. *sigh*

The past two weeks- I almost don't want to get into it.  I will give you a short version, because I know I tend to be a bit long winded.
5/01 I hurt my back badly.  I ended up in the ER that evening getting a pain shot, MRI followed the next day, and am now on day 13 of bed rest.  Have been out of the house not even a handful of times and in quite a bit of pain.  Neuro surgeon says no surgery- would make me worse.  I start water therapy in a couple weeks.
Next, a few days after I hurt my back, Sydney started getting sick.  Ended up with a double ear infection and ruptured right ear drum. Miserable she was.  10 days of Antibiotics, which run out tomorrow, but she still should have until Monday.  Calling the doc tomorrow as I didn't realize she was so low.
Then, yesterday Austin started getting sick.  Feels pretty crummy.   He's snotty (But what's new huh? Ha), feverish, sore throat, tired, overall puny.

So that has been our life for the past two weeks.  Has not been fun.  At all.  One day things will calm down and I will be able to breath again.

On another note - a very very bittersweet one - Sydney will be two shortly.  On the 29th actually.  I cannot even believe it's been 2 years.  I love watching her grow, the spitfire that she is, but I really truly miss her baby-ness.  I want it back.  I wish I could have paused time.

Anyways, I don't think I really have any other news- hopefully we will be up and running again soon and will have more exciting things to post!!  (Although, 6 more months is quite exciting if you ask me!)

Easter!!!

We had a great Easter.  We really missed Bry, but made the best of it.  We kept busy, and the kids had a ball.
Saturday, we went up to Smallwoods Petting Zoo.  They were having a big Easter event up there with an Easter Egg hunt for the kids, and a lot of fun activities.  The kids LOVED it, and didn't want to leave.

Both kids had an Egg hunt, but at different times.  Sydney wasn't quite sure about it, and only got 2 eggs before getting trampled.  Those kids (and THE PARENTS!!!) are just insane.  I don't see why you people are so competitive over something that should be enjoyable and fun for the children.  Anyway about it, Sydney was happy with her two eggs.  Austin got about 12, but he's done this before =)

We came home and after dinner, we colored eggs.  At the end, Bry called, so we got to Skype with him while the kids finished up coloring the eggs.  I'd had the flu bug for about 3 days at this time- so don't mind me =)
The kids LOVED it.  Grandma Dee got them aprons to wear while they colored eggs, and it worked out really nice.

The next day, some family came over, we hung out, talked, enjoyed the kids running around, did an egg hunt for these SPOILED children, and had a nice dinner.

10 for Tuesday

1. It's safe to say I really, truly miss Greenland.  No, not only because my husband is there.  And no, not only because I didn't have to cook, or clean really, or even do much laundry.  But because it was seriously beautiful.
Ok, ok, and because my husband is there.
And I didn't have to cook.
Or clean.
Or do much laundry.

2. The kids love love love talking to their daddy on Skype.  Thank the good Lord that it was invented, because we all would be miserable by now.  Bryant is so amazing with them on there.  He makes silly faces to them, which they giggle with glee, and stick their tongues right back at him.  He tells them stories, and makes jokes, and overall just talks with them.  It's been great seeing it, and I'm so glad they are staying engaged with each other.  It will make this year so much easier, and the homecoming a little smoother.

3.  I took this picture of Bryant in Greenland.  And I can honestly say that it's my favorite picture of him.  Ever.  Ever ever. He's not too bad on the eyes.

4. My mom bought the kids some bubbles.  Colored bubbles.  In theory, they were awesome.  Let me tell you, they were messy. Austin was completely covered in green and pink, as were his clothes.  Sydney wasn't as bad, but W.O.W!

5.  The base in Thule, Greenland is positioned right next to Dundas Village.  It use to be a little village that was home to the Inuit people.  Once the base came, it ended up driving the Inuits out because of the "noise."  What is left and really amazing actually.  A few little houses like this, that are completely abandoned.  I guess when hunters come around to hunt the polar bears, they still stay here.  But when they leave.  They're GONE.  They leave the doors open and everything... just deserted.  It was really neat to see.  This is positioned right on the bay, so we got to walk out onto the frozen ocean. Amazing experience!

6.  A small example of the bubbles I was talking about above.  I really love how the sky looks in this picture though =)  I can't wait for Spring to be here!  Wait... maybe it's already here?  Hell, I don't know.  Weather has been incredibly weird this year!

7.  Austin and Sydney got to meet their baby cousin Joey in March.  They were both quite impressed with him.  I got to see how Sydney would react if Bryant and I were to ever have another child, and it was so precious to see.  She was absolutely enthralled by him.  She loved him.  Austin did too.  He didn't quite understand how young he was though, and wondered why he couldn't just play with him.

8.  I seem to have a theme today.  A messy bubble theme.  He just had so much fun though!
Austin's in pre-school these days, and loving it.  He has a best friend, Saxton, who he met there.  They are attached at the hip, and it's cute really.  They enjoy each other so much & I don't think either one can wait for their play date on Thursday after school.

9. Oh, do we look cold?  Maybe that's because we were!  This was a warmer day, coming in at a whopping -16 degrees.  We are at Dundas Village which I talked about above, and we are standing in front of Thule Greenland's claim to fame:  Mount Dundas.  They even have a picture of Mount Dundas on their napkins in the chow hall.  Cracked. me. up.

10.  Last but not least, my baby girl.  Sydney.  She is so adorable I just want to squeeze her tight.  All the time.  I'm really having a hard time realizing that in shortly over a month, she is going to be two.  Time really has gone faster with her than it ever did with Austin.  Maybe because I kind of already knew the ropes, and had already done it before.  Not that she fit into her brother's mold at all.  Oh no.  She has been a spit fire since day one, and continues to show her independence and stubbornness.
We're in for it.

xoxo,
k.
