10 for Tuesday

1. It's safe to say I really, truly miss Greenland.  No, not only because my husband is there.  And no, not only because I didn't have to cook, or clean really, or even do much laundry.  But because it was seriously beautiful.
Ok, ok, and because my husband is there.
And I didn't have to cook.
Or clean.
Or do much laundry.

2. The kids love love love talking to their daddy on Skype.  Thank the good Lord that it was invented, because we all would be miserable by now.  Bryant is so amazing with them on there.  He makes silly faces to them, which they giggle with glee, and stick their tongues right back at him.  He tells them stories, and makes jokes, and overall just talks with them.  It's been great seeing it, and I'm so glad they are staying engaged with each other.  It will make this year so much easier, and the homecoming a little smoother.

3.  I took this picture of Bryant in Greenland.  And I can honestly say that it's my favorite picture of him.  Ever.  Ever ever. He's not too bad on the eyes.

4. My mom bought the kids some bubbles.  Colored bubbles.  In theory, they were awesome.  Let me tell you, they were messy. Austin was completely covered in green and pink, as were his clothes.  Sydney wasn't as bad, but W.O.W!

5.  The base in Thule, Greenland is positioned right next to Dundas Village.  It use to be a little village that was home to the Inuit people.  Once the base came, it ended up driving the Inuits out because of the "noise."  What is left and really amazing actually.  A few little houses like this, that are completely abandoned.  I guess when hunters come around to hunt the polar bears, they still stay here.  But when they leave.  They're GONE.  They leave the doors open and everything... just deserted.  It was really neat to see.  This is positioned right on the bay, so we got to walk out onto the frozen ocean. Amazing experience!

6.  A small example of the bubbles I was talking about above.  I really love how the sky looks in this picture though =)  I can't wait for Spring to be here!  Wait... maybe it's already here?  Hell, I don't know.  Weather has been incredibly weird this year!

7.  Austin and Sydney got to meet their baby cousin Joey in March.  They were both quite impressed with him.  I got to see how Sydney would react if Bryant and I were to ever have another child, and it was so precious to see.  She was absolutely enthralled by him.  She loved him.  Austin did too.  He didn't quite understand how young he was though, and wondered why he couldn't just play with him.

8.  I seem to have a theme today.  A messy bubble theme.  He just had so much fun though!
Austin's in pre-school these days, and loving it.  He has a best friend, Saxton, who he met there.  They are attached at the hip, and it's cute really.  They enjoy each other so much & I don't think either one can wait for their play date on Thursday after school.

9. Oh, do we look cold?  Maybe that's because we were!  This was a warmer day, coming in at a whopping -16 degrees.  We are at Dundas Village which I talked about above, and we are standing in front of Thule Greenland's claim to fame:  Mount Dundas.  They even have a picture of Mount Dundas on their napkins in the chow hall.  Cracked. me. up.

10.  Last but not least, my baby girl.  Sydney.  She is so adorable I just want to squeeze her tight.  All the time.  I'm really having a hard time realizing that in shortly over a month, she is going to be two.  Time really has gone faster with her than it ever did with Austin.  Maybe because I kind of already knew the ropes, and had already done it before.  Not that she fit into her brother's mold at all.  Oh no.  She has been a spit fire since day one, and continues to show her independence and stubbornness.
We're in for it.

4 months down.

I thought I'd be nice, and lead with a teaser.  Of our lovely, annoying, cute, hyper, frustratingly loving pupper, Petey.  He knows he's cute, and he knows he rules the roost.  Most days.

We're 4 months into this ridiculous remote tour.  I've already went to see him for a week, and It.Was.Awesome.  We both had a blast, and it was beautifully weird being there without any children.  I asked if we could have babies some day, but he said no.  Something about already having two at home.
Men.
I don't get them sometimes.

It already feels like eons ago that I went to Greenland- and I'm ready for his mid-tour already.  Hopefully he will be coming home in June, he's really really missing the dog.

Er, I mean the kids.

He's excited to do fun things with them like this. ^

Hopefully we'll be able to afford another trip for me to go to Greenland in September, so we'll wait and see how that pans out.  Only 8 more months left- I think I can. I think I can.

I have these little things running around here calling me Mama that keep me insane grounded.

I'm pretty partial to them.  Bryant is too.  I think we'll keep them.

Austin told me he loved me the other day. It went like this...

"Mom?"

"Yeah bud..."

"I love you Mom."

"I love you too bud, and I'm glad you love me, because I was about to trade you in."

*silence*

*chirp chirp....*

"No you wouldn't MOM!"
